Villar and Alegre (2007) respond to the body of research on program quality assurance in higher education by investigating faculty development in online learning in “Measuring the learning of university teachers following online staff development courses: a Spanish case study.” Focusing on ten identified components of knowledge, skills and attitudes related to Curriculum and teaching capacity (CTC), the researchers evaluated the success of online CTC training courses at five universities in Spain by evaluating needs, quality, activities and final tests of learning. Findings indicate a positive impact of online CTC training on faculty transfer of CTC knowledge to the classroom.
