Shurmer-Smith, P. (2000)

India: Globalization & Change
Shurmer-Smith’s work is, like Harriss-White’s, a consideration of the less optimistic realities of the Indian economic picture in this time of globalization. Since Shurmer-Smith seeks to provide an overview of several aspects of the transitions in India, she does not provide much in-depth treatment of the HRD picture; however, there is some useful discussion of educational policies issues to consider: she discusses the Catholic predominance in prestigious education and current movements for Hinduization of education.
Though there is only slightly directly related to my current research, I think it is important to remember the whole picture as I research in the area of HRD in India.
